I made it to page 31 and I think that’s quite an achievement considering how dreadfully boring it was. I don’t like gambling it ruins too many people’s lives and this surprise, surprise featured a lot of talk about gambling in the 31 pages I read.

Of course, I wasn’t expecting anything different from the title dotoevsky the back cover blurb, but I didn’t expect it to be quite so boring.

Dsotoevsky I had been able to find a sympathetic character I might have been able to continue with some enthusiasm, as it was I found myself unable to keep track of what was happening which is pretty amazing, seeing as nothing was happening except a lot of gambling.

Kumarbaz by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1 star ratings)

The words all seemed to go straight through my brain without leaving any kind of mark to tell me what the plot was. Very atypical for Dostoyevski. Read it dodtoevsky I was One of his lesser works. I surely wasn’t thrilled by it. There’s nothing to say about this book because there’s not much here in the first place. Dostoevsky was a fantastic author and wrote some of my favourite novels, but this one, ostensibly about a man with a gambling addiction, is actually about nothing.

The main character’s attraction, and devotion, to another character, Polina, is not worth talking kymarbaz in any respect. The characters aren’t there; the story isn’t there.

There’s nothing to recommend in this book. Tirned out to be quite a strenuous read for such a short novella, sadly No, no, no, dostowvsky, no. Una fatica immane per meno di un centinaio di pagine. What a slow and dostosvsky read! Dostoevksy had only 15 pages left and I could not bring myself to finish it, I simply didn’t care a anymore.

I did not identify with anyone, the narrator, who started off as a charming smartass turned into a pusillanimous pain in the ass. Not Fiodor’s finest, at all! I got bored with it and didnt bother finishing.

I felt that I was wasting my life reading this but had no choice but to plough through. Very disappointing as I really like Crime and Punishment. Didn’t finish this one, it didn’t catch my interest.

I do not recommend this book, the themes are soley outdated.
