The story ends on a hopeful note, with the project leader believing that Earth can help the humans at Sirius, and a fearful one, with the nivven then speculating that the humans were inconstabt by carnivorous aliens as food animals. Stan, the narrator, notices that the moon is glowing much brighter than ever before. He has since lived in Los Angeles suburbs, including Chatsworth and Tarzana, as a full-time writer.

Start with a scientific premise, no matter how far fetched, and build a story about how an individual or society would react to it. This tale poses an interesting scenario and question: A decent read, nothing that knocked my socks off, but it did have an element of suspense about it that kept me interested enough to want to finish the book. Some were a bit naive and I was beginning to think the book was not that good, but the last story was excellent.
